Susan Hollingworth
A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, Susan divides her time between work as a music educator and as a choral conductor. In 1990 she won a Churchill Fellowship for her work with young choirs, travelling to Hungary to study the famous Kodály method of music education.
As well as conducting the Grimsby Philharmonic Choir, Susan is Musical Director of the Sine Nomine International Touring Choir. The choir has visited Tuscany, singing at international festivals in Perugia, Pistoia and Pinza cathedrals. Nearer home, as guest choir at Presteigne Festival, they sang pieces by Judith Weir, John McCabe and John Pickard with all three composers present. They have also sung at the Three Choirs Festival in Worcester.
Susan is also conductor of the award-
Susan's educational work includes being musical director of the Sefton Choral Festival at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall; Project Director of the Voices Foundation; and a tutor on the ACTL teachers' course at Trinity College of Music. She is a music advisor to North Lincolnshire and regularly gives music workshops and seminars for Making Music; the Association of British Choir Directors (ABCD), and Sing For Pleasure. Adjudicating has taken Susan to the Coleraine International Festival, the Moray and Northampton Festivals and to audition rounds of the annual Choir of the Year broadcast competition. |
